David & Ally McKay   have taught their  photography courses to acclaim all over the nation. During these courses, which are taught classroom style, you will learn a ton of incredible information and insight into the wonderful world of photography. If you are excited to learn about photography and your camera and have no idea where to start, this is the perfect place for you.

Class FAQs

Yes you can, if you think your brain can handle it. You would be surprised at how much information can be covered in a few hours. With that said, it is very common for students to attend multiple classes on any given day of classes.

Class times vary depending on the subject matter. Typical classes will last any where from 2-3 hours. Specialty classes could be longer and details on that can be found in the description of each class.

You can take as many classes as you have purchased vouchers for. One voucher is good for one class. Purchase as many as you like.

Believe it or not, this is a common question for us. We welcome students of all ages. If you have further or more specific questions and concerns regarding this subject, please feel free to contact us at 916-458-2897 and we would be happy to discuss with the parent or legal guardian.

Class sizes are now kept as a small group for maximum learning opportunity.  Each course will allow you the opportunity to ask questions and learn in a small group setting! Typical class size is around 10 people

NOTE: If you do not yet own a camera, no problem! Many people attend our courses without a camera as they are not sure what they would like to purchase. After our course, you will be much better prepared to purchase a camera that is the right choice for you and your budget!

General Courses

Taught by Adam Furtado, Lightroom, Photoshop and Photoshop Elements users Welcome. This course was designed to help you fix even the most common photo problems quickly and easily. This is for beginner users and covers the basics.

Taught by Adam Furtado, Photoshop and Photoshop Elements users Welcome. With the basics already covered during Editing: Part 1, now it’s time to cover the most important elements Photoshop has to offer. In Editing: Part 2 Adam will cover Layers, Adjustment Layers, Masks and Selections. These 4 topics are easily the most important aspects of photo editing and Adam will simplify these topics with fun, creative projects and visual aids to help you get up and running. NOTE: If you are just starting out and have not taken Editing: Part 1, it is highly recommended.

This course has been requested over and over and now with our new facility, we are excited to be able to help you take your images from your computer, to your wall!  In this course, we will help you understand how to prepare your images for print by using basic software such as Lightroom or Photoshop. We will cover labs and where to send your images, printing your own at home, how to prepare your files and more!

Learn manual settings and how to get the most out of your camera! Mastering Your Camera: Part 1 will get you off of automatic so that you can take control of your imagery once and for all. No more bright blurry images or sharp dark images. Mastering Your Camera: Part 1 will teach you how to properly capture an image with perfect exposure every time. David and Ally McKay provide lots of visual examples complete with a live demonstration. NOTE: You don’t need to take Mastering Your Camera: Part 1 in order to take Mastering Your Camera: Part 2. Part: 1 and 2 go hand in hand and are the perfect compliment of one another. In fact we highly recommend you take both!

Mastering Your Camera: Part 2 picks up where Mastering Your Camera: Part 1 leaves off. This course is designed to help you learn lens choice & compositional techniques. Just as important as the buttons and dials on your camera! In this course David and Ally McKay will talk about Wide Angle lenses, Long Telephoto lenses and everything in between. With examples of each and recommendations for any budget, the McKay’s are prepaid to show you which lenses to use and why. As if that were not enough, Ally McKay and Master on Composition will show you some of her favorite creative photographic techniques sure to improve your photography instantly when implemented. NOTE: You don’t need to take Mastering Your Camera: Part 1 in order to take this class. Part: 1 and 2 go hand in hand and are the perfect compliment of one another. In fact we highly recommend you take both!

Learn how to use flash, Night-time photography, and Intro to special effects! (Should have knowledge of manual settings).

Photography is not something you just get on the first go around. It takes practice, lots of it. This refresher is the perfect compliment to Mastering Your Camera Part 1 and 2. We are going to go over all the key elements of Part 1 and 2 again to help better understand or fill in the gaps of things you may have forgotten since the last class.
