Join us as we travel the back-roads of Isle of Lewis and Isle of Skye. Of course we will still photograph some of the prominent scenes throughout the islands as well!  From the moment you arrive, you will be taken care of and everything is included with the exception of your alcohol. Featuring an incredible 3 -1 client to instructor ratio, this tour will have only 12 photographers allowed and 4 instructors! As  if that isn’t enough, we will also have 2 photographic guides/drivers that know how and when to get us to many hidden gems off the back roads. They live on Isle of Skye and we will have TOTAL flexibility to go when we want with no set hours. This truly will be an unforgettable intimate photography tour that cannot be beat.

Join David & Ally McKay, Photorec Toby, and Steve Scurich of the MPA team as we explore, chase light, and photograph the INCREDIBLE scenery of Isle of Skye and Lewis. PLUS-we will have 2 professional guides that live in Skye getting us into little known locations off the beaten path!

Itinerary: Our itinerary is flexible. This is a base outline but we have the ability to modify as we want and see fit for optimum photographic opportunities.. 
DAY 1-Sept. 17│ ARRIVE INVERNESS, SCOTLAND (L & D)
  • Upon arrival, meet our local experts guides in Inverness
  • Travel south past the banks of Loch Ness stopping at Urquhart Castle
    • Opportunity to photograph the castle ruins and spectacular views over the loch itself
  • Stop for lunch in the canal-side village of Fort Augustus then spend the afternoon photographing the canal
  • Continue south to the town of Fort William
  • Enjoy a special Welcome Dinner this evening

DAY 2-Sept. 18│  Glenfinnan and morar coast (B, L, D)
  • After breakfast, head west toward the coast with a stop at Glenfinnan viaduct to capture a spectacular shot of the Jacobite Steam Train (also known as the Hogwart’s Express as featured in the Harry Potter Movies)
  • Continue to the rugged Morar Coast with plenty of time to explore the pristine white sand beaches such as Camusdaraoch which boasts unrivalled views of the Small Isles, Rum and Eigg.
  • In the late afternoon, board the ferry to the Isle of Skye.

DAY 3-Sept. 19│  Loch Coruisk – the cauldron of waters (B, L, D)
  • Loch Coruisk is one of the most dramatic and atmospheric places to visit on the Isle of Skye. This morning, travel by boat to the loch, passing a colony of seals.
  • After a short hike from the boat, arrive to the inland loch surrounded by craggy peaks of the mighty Black Cuillin Mountains
    • We can stay at the loch for up to 6 hours, so there is plenty of time to hike along the banks of the loch to the perfect place for photographs.
    • There is also the opportunity to ascend one of the smaller peaks for those keen on a good hike
  • Late afternoon, return to the hotel for dinner.

DAY 4-Sept. 20│  The trotternish peninsula (B, L, D)
  • After breakfast, depart Portree and spend a few hours exploring the wild landscape of the Trotternish Peninsula
    • There are several options such as the unique crumpled ridges of the Quirang or the magical Fairy Glen (depending on weather conditions)
  • In the afternoon, depart Skye taking the ferry to Harris in the Outer Hebrides.
  • Upon arrival, spend some time exploring the surrounding area near the hotel

DAY 5-Sept. 21│  The HARRIS COAST (B, L, D)
  • The west coast of Harris features some of the most spectacular beaches in Scotland with white sands and crystal clear waters.
    • Spend the morning exploring the scenery and travel around the island taking in the unique moon-like landscape of the Golden Road to the east coast
    • If the weather is not agreeable, there are several places to visit including an artists’ studio and tweed weavers
  • In the late afternoon, drive north to Lewis and to the main town of Stornoway

DAY 6-Sept. 22│  WEST LEWIS (B, L, D)
  • Today, a relaxed itinerary is ideal. Spend the day indulging in the many historic sites of West Lewis including the Great Bernera Iron Age Dwelling, Callanish Standing Stones, and Dun Carloway Broch (stone roundhouse).

DAY 7-Sept. 23│  The Butt of lewis (B, L, D)
  • After breakfast, head to the most northwest part of the island, the Butt of Lewis, where the wild Atlantic Ocean meets the land. On a windy day the Butt of Lewis is the perfect location to capture the force of the waves as they clash with the rocky cliffs underneath the lighthouse.
  • In the afternoon, catch the ferry from Stornoway to Ullapool, and if there is time and interest, visit a local art gallery
  • Ferry arrives into Ullapool in the late afternoon.
  • Enjoy a special Farewell Dinner this evening

DAY 8-Sept. 24│  Depart scotland
  • Depart after a relaxed breakfast.
  • Our guides will provide transfers to Inverness Airport or train station for connecting international flights to the USA
