Getting BACK to Travel, Nature, and Photography in the Great Outdoors!

When people think of South Dakota, usually it is Mt Rushmore or the Crazy Horse Memorial carvings into the sides of a mountain. However, South Dakota offers the photographer an amazing opportunity for incredible scenery, and AMAZING LIGHT!
Our tour is set for mid-June, which is PRIME photography time for awesome summer storm light that rolls in and then rolls out. In the Black Hills, although we will find tourists, we will also find amazing light and opportunities. Situated at a higher elevation, the weather is warm but not hot and we find this is an excellent time to be here. Temperatures are usually in the ’70s!

For the first time in six years, we’re heading back to South Dakota! And this time, we are keeping the experience incredibly small, with ONLY 8 photography spots available for our Badlands and Custer State Park Photography Tour. Six years is a long time to wait for another opportunity like this, and with just eight photographers joining us, we fully expect these spots to go quickly. If photographing the dramatic Badlands, incredible wildlife, roaming bison, and spectacular landscapes of Custer State Park has been on your list, now is the time. Don’t wait and don’t miss your chance to join us!

ONLY 8 PHOTOGRAPHY SPOTS! Over the years, we have continued to make our photography tours smaller and more personal, and we are now limiting this South Dakota adventure to just 8 photographers. We believe smaller groups create a much better experience, with more individual instruction, more room to photograph, greater flexibility in the field, and more time dedicated to each participant.  For Badlands and Custer State Park, there are only eight photography spots available. Once they are gone, they are gone!

Experience the wild beauty of South Dakota on an unforgettable photography adventure through Badlands National Park and Custer State Park.

Badlands National Park offers one of the most dramatic and otherworldly landscapes in the American West. Towering spires, deeply eroded canyons, jagged ridgelines, and colorful layers of ancient rock create endless photographic possibilities. At sunrise and sunset, the Badlands truly come alive as warm light sweeps across the formations, revealing incredible textures, patterns, shadows, and colors that can change by the minute. Beyond the grand vistas, the park offers wonderful opportunities to photograph winding formations, isolated peaks, expansive prairie, and wildlife within the landscape. It is a place built for photography, where every turn reveals another composition and the constantly changing light can transform an already spectacular scene into something extraordinary.

The landscapes of Custer State Park are a photographer’s dream, where towering granite formations rise dramatically above forests of ponderosa pine and vast golden prairies stretch toward the horizon. Winding mountain roads lead through spectacular scenery, revealing rugged peaks, peaceful valleys, crystal-clear lakes, and incredible rock formations around nearly every turn. As the light changes throughout the day, the landscape transforms, from soft morning light illuminating the Black Hills to warm evening light sweeping across the open grasslands. Add herds of bison wandering through this magnificent scenery, and Custer State Park delivers the perfect combination of grand landscapes, intimate details, and the untamed spirit of the American West.
