My original caption is below – it started to get unwieldy.. so I will just say I love photographing the stars, especially with beautiful moonlit landscapes. We had lots of fun photographing stars in the Moab area a few weeks ago and have decided to return in mid-august for a short workshop focused on astrophotography. Stars, star trails, Milkyway, moonlit landscapes – all will be possible.The MPA team returned from an epic tour to Moab! Many of you have seen some of the images. While there, and being awestruck, they knew it was time to create a specific tour to photograph at night within Arches National Park and the surrounding area. Moab, UT is truly full of wonder. Moab is extraordinary, from over 2000 arches in the area to some of the deepest canyons in the world!
Join us as we return and help you create spectacular astrophotography photos in and around Arches National Park.Our sessions will start with sunset at iconic locations. Then we will go into the night to photograph the wonders under the Stars and Milky Way! We have set up this tour specifically to work during a time when the moon and Milky Way conditions should be prime! We will explore and photograph iconic Arches and Canyonlands National Parks at night and in some surrounding areas. In the past, we have had limited time to spend on the nighttime images due to the daytime tours and early morning wake-up calls.
With this new tour, we will have plenty of time to see and photograph MUCH MORE and spend time during the optimum hours and with NO TOURISTS! PLUS – A special add-on to Monument Valley!

New and beginning photographers will love the personal instruction and fun atmosphere. There is no reason to feel intimated on a McKay Tour! We love new photography enthusiasts!

Base itinerary
| Moab with Arches and Canyonlands National Parks
August 10th – Arrive – 6 pm Welcome Meeting, and then first night session! Monument Valley August 13th – Travel and Sunset Session *Each day will present various photographic opportunities. Based on several factors, each day will be flexible to where we go and what we photograph. This keeps everything fresh and exciting! Depending on time, light, weather etc, we also try to work in an editing and image review session! |
